Qualifying
Procedures
All racers will make qualifying runs at the same time
with No Exceptions. Any runs made outside the scheduled
qualifying session will not count toward the ladder. Any time a driver stages and the tree is activated, this will be considered a run. If a
driver has a problem, and backs out of the lights to stage again,
that run will not count as a qualifying pass, and will be considered as an aborted run.
Numbers will be drawn prior to
the first round of qualifying to determine the run order for making qualifying runs. For the first round of qualifying, the odd
numbers drawn will take the left lane, with the even numbers
taking the right lane. For the second round of qualifying, the order is to be reversed, with the driver that ran last in the first
round running first in the second. All qualifying runs will be
made side by side unless otherwise specified.
DPM uses the same
qualifying ladder as IHRA and NHRA events with cars pairing up for eliminations as follows: 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, and 4-5. This ladder will be
adjusted in the same format for a 16 car
field.
Attendance
All teams are asked to contact Norman
Thomas no later than the Thursday night prior to the scheduled
event to confirm their plans to attend. Norman Thomas may be reached my
calling 770-477-7742
Break Rules
If a car breaks
after qualifying and is unable to make the call for first round of
eliminations, the ladder will be adjusted allowing the #9
qualified car to move up to the 8th position. The car moving into
the 8th position will receive $100.00 of qualifying money which was earned
by the broken car during the two qualifying rounds, but was
unable to race. If a car breaks during eliminations, that drivers
competition which was previously eliminated, may return to competition in the broken cars spot. The car that was broken, will
receive all the round money and points for that round, but the
car that re-entered the race will receive all monies and points
for future advancement. If that car which was previously eliminated
chooses not to re-enter the race, the fast loser from the
previous round may re-enter the race in that position.
Points
Points will be awarded to each driver
attending any race, and there is a possibility of 8 points awarded at each race. Points will be earned as follows:
3
points---Show for race but DNQ 4 points---First Round Loser 5
points---Second Round Loser 7 points---Runner Up 8
points---Winner
Points are awarded to the team which may involve
more than one driver of a particular car during the season, or a
driver that uses more than one car during a season. The points fund consists of membership dues and $100.00 from each race. The money is
then used for our annual meeting, trophies, and the remainder is
divided among the top five points earners during the season. The
payout is as follows:
40%---First Place 20%---Second
Place 17%---Third Place 13%---Fourth Place 10%---Fifth
Place
Disqualifications
Any car touching a boundary line
during eliminations will be disqualified. The starting line official will make the call which will be Final. Any behavior
found to be unsportsmanlike is grounds for disqualification. This call may
be made by any track official at any time. Although DPM has its
own set of guidelines for appropriate racing behavior, we must
also follow the rules of each track we visit. |
